Sheikh Mujib Medical University - Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University
(BSMMU) is the only medical university in Bangladesh. Before April 30, 1998, it was called
the Institute of Postgraduate Medicine and Research (IPGM&R). IPGM&R started in
1965 with an aim to providing postgraduate medical education in Bangladesh. It was then a
Government-controlled institute. The university now is autonomous governed by a syndicate
comprising 24 members. It comprises of 31 Departments under 4 faculties.

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University - The goal of Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University(BSMRAU) is to contribute the growth and development
of the farm economy in Bangladesh by providing intellectual leadership and by producing
quality graduates at the M.S. and Ph.D. Level. BSMRAU strengthens its postgraduate
education and research programs with an outreach program designed to in improve the
economic wellbeing of farmers and to accelerate rural development.
